i think this is because every one is probably looking at him in a wierd way, and obviously he feels unconfortable with the situation + feel threatend as it says.
He feels threatened by the market because there is alot of people and he probbaly feels insecure and thinks that their all looking at him and yelling at him.
he feels threatened at the market because he is different and there are alot of people around him yelling and shouting and Njunjul is getting very confused with everything.
